Meet the Coach

Eric Basek

Former owner of Blue Titan Fitness & Self-Defense in New Jersey, Eric is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Krav Maga and has been teaching law enforcement, military, and civilian students since 2006.

As a former police officer in Washington, D.C., and a current military officer, Eric is all too familiar with the importance of self-defense.

His approach to self-defense is simple and effective.

  • Have Fun: Cause if you aren't having fun, you won't stick around. And if you don't stick around, you can't learn anything.

  • Be Safe: Minimize the risk of injury in class so you can maximize mat and training time.

  • Be Effective: If the technique is not maximally effective, it is discarded.

  • Be Widely Applicable: While it is always better to be a veteran martial artist - but not everyone has the time or money to spend a decade training. Self-defense needs to cover a wide set of circumstances for a wide set of people. It forms the base upon which to build that martial arts experience only amplifies

What ages are allowed?

This event will be suitable for ages 12 and up! We ask everyone under the age of 18 be accompanied by an adult or have an adult present to observe.

What do I wear?

Workout clothes. No shoes. No jewelry. Be comfortable but not sexy. Leave the revealing clothes for the club.

What will I learn?

You will learn several simple, highly effective techniques for practical, everyday application in circumstances that are tense, uncertain, and rapidly evolving. From unwanted encounters at a bar, to unruly Eagles fans at a football game, to sexual assault threats on a college campus.
